About Moore NORTHERN HOME COUNTIES
Probate and Will Services
Probate made simpler, when you need it most
Dealing with probate and estate administration can feel overwhelming, particularly at a difficult time. Our friendly and experienced team is here to provide clear, practical advice and personal support, helping you navigate the process as simply and smoothly as possible.
Based in Goffs Oak and Stevenage, we provide probate, estate administration, wills and inheritance tax advice to families and individuals across Hertfordshire, London and beyond.
Moore Northern Home Counties Limited is licensed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to carry out the reserved legal activity of non-contentious probate in England and Wales, giving you confidence that your estate is being handled professionally and with care.
Every estate is different, so our service is flexible. We can manage the entire probate and estate administration process on your behalf or simply provide support with the areas where you need help.
Probate and tax expertise, all under one roof
Managing an estate often involves both probate and tax, including Inheritance tax. Because our probate team works closely with our in-house tax advisers, we can deal with these aspects together rather than you having to coordinate between different professional advisers.
This joined-up approach can help make the process more straightforward, reduce unnecessary delays and ensure that important tax considerations are identified and dealt with as part of the estate administration process.
From applying for the Grant of Probate and completing the necessary paperwork, through to dealing with estate assets, tax and the final distribution of the estate, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.
Whether you need help with probate, estate administration, making or updating a will, or understanding your inheritance tax position, you can rely on experienced advisers who take the time to understand your circumstances.
Timescales
Every estate is different, but as a guide, applying for the grant of probate usually takes [x to y] months from when we have all the information we need. A straightforward estate is usually fully administered within [x to y] months. Estates with property sales, inheritance tax to pay, overseas assets or trusts can take longer. We will give you an estimate for your estate at the start and keep you updated.

How Our Probate Advice Works
01. Understand the Estate and Your Needs
We start by learning about the estate, the will, the executors, the assets and liabilities involved, and how much support you would like from us.
02. Prepare the Probate and Tax Information
We help identify estate assets, liabilities, lifetime gifts, trust interests, and any Inheritance Tax requirements so the correct forms and calculations can be prepared.
03. Apply for Probate and Support Administration
We complete the necessary formalities to obtain the Grant of Probate and, where required, help with collecting assets, settling liabilities, managing legacies, and handling estate tax matters.
04. Finalise Accounts and Distributions
We prepare administration accounts and support the distribution of estate assets to beneficiaries, helping bring the process to a clear and organised conclusion.
